Trump-Netanyahu Showdown: Lebanon Strikes Spark Diplomatic Crisis and Iran Warning

US President Donald Trump reportedly had a heated phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Israel’s continued military operations in Lebanon. According to a report by Axios, Trump expressed strong frustration over the ongoing strikes, warning that the attacks were damaging Israel’s international image and increasing tensions in the region. The report claims Trump criticized Netanyahu’s approach and urged him to avoid further escalation, especially in Beirut.

The phone call came as Iran warned that it could suspend ongoing negotiations with the United States if Israeli attacks in Lebanon continued. Iranian officials have stated that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an important condition for any future agreement with Washington. Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also said Tehran would reconsider dialogue with the US if what he called Israel’s “crimes in Lebanon” were not stopped.

Despite the tensions, Lebanon later announced a limited ceasefire arrangement between Israel and Hezbollah. Under the understanding, Israel would avoid strikes on Beirut and nearby Hezbollah-controlled areas, while Hezbollah would halt attacks on Israel. Although the agreement does not end the conflict completely, it is being seen as an important step toward reducing violence and preventing a wider regional crisis involving Israel, Lebanon, Iran, and the United States.
