The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has approached the Delhi High Court alleging serious irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) system used for evaluating Class 12 answer sheets. Through a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), NSUI has sought an independent inquiry into the alleged technical failures and evaluation-related issues that may have affected thousands of students across the country.

According to the petition, students, parents and teachers reported multiple problems after the declaration of CBSE results, including blurred scanned answer sheets, missing pages, incomplete uploads, answer-sheet mismatches and unexpectedly low marks. NSUI has argued that these complaints point to possible systemic flaws in the digital evaluation process rather than isolated incidents. The student body has also demanded compensatory marks for students whose answer scripts were allegedly missing, blurred or incorrectly evaluated.
The PIL further seeks reopening of the verification and re-evaluation portal for an additional month and calls for manual rechecking and physical verification of answer sheets in disputed cases. NSUI has told the court that Class 12 results play a crucial role in college admissions, scholarships and professional courses, making any evaluation errors potentially harmful to students’ academic futures. The matter is expected to be listed before the Delhi High Court in the coming days.
