Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of the national capital on Thursday morning, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert for the day. The weather department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, advising residents to remain cautious while commuting and avoid waterlogged areas.
The showers brought significant relief from the humid and sultry weather that had gripped Delhi over the past few days. The rainfall also led to a noticeable drop in temperatures, making weather conditions more pleasant across the city. However, intermittent rain is expected to continue through the day, with the possibility of localized traffic disruptions and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
According to the IMD, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.6°C, which is 1.3 degrees below the seasonal average. Authorities have urged people to stay updated with official weather advisories, as thunderstorms and heavy rain may affect normal life in parts of the city throughout the day.
