The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the opposition over their response to the ongoing student protest in Jharkhand. The BJP accused opposition leaders of showing “double standards”, alleging that those who had tried to “politically hijack” student protests in Delhi are now remaining silent on the agitation in Jharkhand.
Thousands of job aspirants took to the streets on Monday and marched towards the Jharkhand Assembly, protesting alleged irregularities in various recruitment examinations conducted in the state. The protesters are demanding action over the alleged discrepancies and seeking measures to ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
JLKM leader Devendra Nath Mahto also joined the march despite being on a nine-day hunger strike over the issue. According to reports, Mahto has lost around 10.5 kg during the protest and participated in the march in an ambulance. He was seen carrying a portrait of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren as the agitation continued to draw attention.
