Kerala Unveils ‘New Kerala’ Vision in Revised Budget 2026-27, Focuses on Inclusive Growth and Port-Led Economy

Presenting the Revised Budget 2026-27, Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan outlined an ambitious roadmap for building a “New Kerala” through inclusive growth, sustainable development, and economic transformation. Acknowledging challenges such as fiscal stress, hidden liabilities, inflation, and declining remittances, the Chief Minister said the government remains committed to strengthening the state’s economy while ensuring equitable distribution of wealth.

A key highlight of the budget was the launch of Mission Samudra, a flagship initiative aimed at developing a port-led economy and positioning Kerala as a global maritime and economic hub. The government plans to leverage the state’s coastline and maritime infrastructure to attract investments, boost trade, create employment opportunities, and drive long-term economic growth.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for broad-based development strategies, increased private and public investments, and improved resource mobilization for the state exchequer. According to the government, the revised budget seeks to balance fiscal responsibility with welfare commitments, while laying the foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth across sectors in the coming years.
