Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Canada later this year as both countries move closer to finalising a major trade agreement currently under discussion. Officials from both sides are reportedly working on the schedule of the visit, which is expected to focus heavily on economic cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties. The visit could become one of the most significant diplomatic engagements between India and Canada in recent years.

The proposed trade pact, known as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), is aimed at boosting trade, investment, and business opportunities between the two nations. Discussions are focused on sectors including technology, pharmaceuticals, clean energy, agriculture, education, and digital services. Indian officials have indicated that negotiations are progressing positively, with both countries trying to conclude the agreement within the next few months.
The possible visit by PM Modi is also being seen as an important step toward improving overall relations between India and Canada after recent diplomatic tensions. Experts believe the agreement could open new opportunities for businesses and create stronger economic partnerships between the two countries. If finalised, the trade deal is expected to significantly increase bilateral trade and deepen cooperation across multiple sectors in the coming years.
