A viral video showing three men allegedly wearing Indian Railways bedsheets as shawls has sparked widespread outrage on social media. The bedsheets reportedly carried markings identifying them as property of “Western Railway” and were seen being openly used by the men in a market. Reports citing RTI data claim that more than 1.27 crore bedroll items, including bedsheets and other linen, were reported stolen between January 2022 and May 2026. The alleged thefts and losses have reportedly resulted in financial losses exceeding ₹104.51 crore.
