Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed the reported agreement between Iran and the United States aimed at ending the conflict in West Asia, which has continued for more than three months and caused significant humanitarian and economic consequences. In a social media post from Bratislava, Slovakia, Modi said the understanding between the two nations could help restore stability in the region and reduce the global economic disruptions caused by the prolonged conflict.
The Prime Minister noted that the violence had not only resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries but had also severely impacted international shipping routes and energy markets. The conflict had raised concerns among several countries dependent on West Asian trade and energy supplies. Modi expressed hope that the agreement would pave the way for peace and prevent further loss of life across the region.
Modi arrived in Bratislava on Sunday night as part of a bilateral visit to Slovakia following engagements with French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice. His remarks come ahead of the G7 Summit, where he is also expected to meet U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday. The meeting gains added significance amid recent regional tensions and the deaths of Indian sailors linked to the conflict, making security and stability key issues on the diplomatic agenda.
