Nagpur Police have arrested two individuals after a 24-year-old married woman alleged that she was subjected to sexual assault, blackmail, extortion, and an attempt at forced religious conversion. According to police, the woman, whose husband serves in the armed forces and is posted outside the city, filed a complaint stating that one of the accused, a former school acquaintance, allegedly lured her under the pretext of a property-related meeting before drugging and sexually assaulting her. She further claimed that compromising photos and videos were recorded and later used to threaten and blackmail her.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused extorted several lakh rupees from her over an extended period by threatening to release the recordings publicly and send them to her husband. She also claimed that she was repeatedly coerced into participating in rituals, forced to consume substances against her will, and pressured to undergo a religious conversion ceremony. Police said the FIR includes charges related to rape, extortion, criminal intimidation, and provisions under Maharashtra’s anti-black magic law. A third accused, identified in the complaint as a religious cleric, is currently absconding and efforts are underway to trace him.
Officials confirmed that the two arrested accused have been remanded to police custody while investigators examine electronic devices, financial transactions, and other evidence connected to the case. Authorities are also verifying videos and digital material allegedly linked to the incidents. Police have emphasized that the allegations are currently under investigation and that all claims will be thoroughly examined before any conclusions are reached. The case has sparked significant public attention, with calls for a swift and impartial probe.
