GalaxEye’s Mission Drishti Launched, Boosting India’s Space Ambitions

Indian space start-up GalaxEye has successfully launched its ambitious Mission Drishti satellite, marking a major milestone in the country’s growing private space industry. The satellite was launched aboard SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from California, United States, in a mission that highlights India’s expanding presence in global space innovation.

Mission Drishti is the world’s first OptoSAR satellite, combining optical and radar imaging capabilities to provide high-precision Earth observation in all weather conditions and at all times of the day. Weighing around 190 kilograms, it is also the largest Earth observation satellite ever built by a private Indian company, showcasing a significant technological achievement for India’s space start-up ecosystem.

The satellite is expected to play a key role in applications such as disaster management, agriculture monitoring, climate studies, and security-related observations. Its advanced imaging system is designed to deliver continuous and reliable data, strengthening India’s capabilities in space-based analytics.

The successful launch has been widely appreciated by national leaders. Narendra Modi praised the mission, stating that it reflects the strong spirit of innovation and the contribution of India’s youth in nation-building. Similarly, C. P. Radhakrishnan called it a significant step forward for India’s commercial space ecosystem, especially due to its advanced round-the-clock Earth observation technology.

With this launch, GalaxEye has positioned itself as one of the leading players in India’s private space sector, and Mission Drishti is being seen as a symbol of India’s growing capabilities in next-generation space technology.
