A 75-year-old man has been arrested in Bhopal for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in a residential colony under the Habibganj police station area. Police said the accused was known to the victim’s family and lived in the same neighbourhood.
According to officials, the incident took place when the child had gone to play near the accused’s house. After returning home, the girl complained of pain to her mother. The family became suspicious after noticing injury marks and immediately took the child for medical examination.
Following the medical report, the family lodged a complaint with Habibganj police station. During counselling, the child allegedly identified the elderly neighbour as the accused. Police then registered a case and arrested the 75-year-old man.
The incident has shocked local residents and raised concerns over the safety of children in residential colonies. Police said the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the findings.
