Apple Launches First Foldable iPhone Duo, Enters Premium Foldable Market

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the launch of its first-ever foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. The device was unveiled on September 9 and marks one of the company’s biggest design changes in years.

he iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display when unfolded and a 5.4-inch outer display when closed. Apple says the phone is designed for multitasking, gaming and viewing content, with its foldable design offering a larger screen while remaining pocket-friendly.

Powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, the Duo also comes with a redesigned iOS 27 experience and Apple Intelligence features. The phone starts at $1,999 in the US, making it the company’s most expensive iPhone yet. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on October 16, with sales starting October 23.

Apple’s entry puts it directly against established foldable-phone makers such as Samsung and Chinese smartphone brands, potentially giving the growing foldable segment a major boost.
