IMD Says Monsoon Likely to Cover North India in 5–6 Days as Heat Persists in Delhi, UP

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that conditions are becoming favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon across northern parts of the country over the next five to six days. According to the weather agency, the monsoon is expected to progress into more areas of the North Arabian Sea, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh during this period.

Despite the expected advance of the monsoon, several northern states continue to experience intense heat. Delhi recorded its warmest morning in nearly two years on Sunday due to the delay in the arrival of seasonal rainfall. Residents of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and neighbouring regions have been facing hot and humid weather conditions, with temperatures remaining above normal in many areas.

The IMD has indicated that widespread rainfall activity is likely to increase as the monsoon advances further north, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions. The department has advised people to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts, as rainfall intensity and local weather conditions may vary across different regions over the coming days.
