Cybercriminals Exploit Cockroach Janta Party’s Popularity to Target Gen Z, Report Warns

As the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) continues to gain massive popularity on social media, cybercriminals are reportedly using the trend to target young internet users. A new report by Mumbai-based cybersecurity startup TraceX Labs has warned that scammers are circulating fake Android apps claiming to be the official CJP application. These apps are being shared through unofficial websites, social media posts, and third-party download links.

According to the 33-page report, the fake applications may contain malware that can hack devices, steal personal information, and gain unauthorized access to user data. Security researchers believe that Gen Z users are particularly vulnerable, as many are actively following and engaging with CJP-related content online. The fake apps often promise exclusive updates, membership access, or special features to attract downloads.

Cybersecurity experts have advised users to avoid downloading APK files from unknown sources and to install applications only through trusted platforms such as the Google Play Store. They also recommend checking app permissions carefully and avoiding suspicious links shared online. The report highlights how cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting viral internet trends to launch scams, making digital awareness and online safety more important than ever.
