Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life as a period focused on the welfare of the poor and laying the foundation for India’s prosperity.
Shah made the remarks in Vadnagar while inaugurating the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and flagging off a bike rally to Varanasi to mark Modi’s birthday. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were also present at the event.
Prime Minister Modi, who was born in Vadnagar on September 17, 1950, turned 76 on Thursday. He is set to complete 25 uninterrupted years in public office on October 7. Modi first became Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and later took office as Prime Minister in 2014.
The celebrations in Vadnagar are being held as part of events marking Modi’s birthday and his 25 years in public office.
