Five people were killed in a road accident involving a car and a truck in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Saturday, police said.
The accident took place near a petrol pump in the Balipara area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Rangapara Police Station. According to a senior police officer, the car collided head-on with the commercial vehicle.
All five people who died were occupants of the car,” the officer said. Police reached the spot following the accident and began taking further action. The identities of the deceased and details about the circumstances leading to the collision are yet to be fully established.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety in the area, as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fatal collision.
