Intense Storm, Rain Lash Delhi-NCR; IMD Issues Weather Alert

New Delhi witnessed a sudden change in weather on Wednesday as strong thunderstorms, gusty winds and heavy rainfall swept across Delhi-NCR. Dark clouds covered the skies during the afternoon, bringing relief from the scorching heat but also causing traffic disruptions and waterlogging in several low-lying areas. Commuters faced delays as visibility dropped and roads became congested due to the intense weather conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning in Delhi and adjoining regions. According to the weather agency, the change in weather was triggered by favorable atmospheric conditions over north India. Officials have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during storms and stay away from weak structures, trees and electric poles.

The sudden spell of rain led to a noticeable drop in temperatures across the national capital, offering much-needed respite from the ongoing heatwave-like conditions. Weather experts have predicted that intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms may continue over the next few days, keeping temperatures under control while improving overall air quality in the region.
