Fresh violence has erupted in Manipur after suspected Myanmar-based militant groups allegedly carried out drone attacks on border villages in Kamjong district during the early hours of May 7.
According to local sources, several houses were destroyed in the fire caused by the attacks, forcing many families to flee to safer areas. One villager was reportedly injured, while another Naga man remains missing, with fears that he may have been abducted by the attackers.
Local MLA Leishiyo Keishing called the incident an “external aggression” from across the India-Myanmar border and alleged involvement of groups linked to the Kuki National Army (Burma) and the People’s Defence Force (PDF). He also criticised the security response and urged the Centre to strengthen border security immediately to prevent further violence in the region.
